GAMMA ORYZANOL
In 1953, Dr. Tsuchiya succeeded in separating GAMMA ORYZANOL which is different from conventional vitamins, from rice bran oil and rice germ oil. It was reported that GAMMA ORYZANOL had growth acceleration, sex gland stimulus and ovarian hormone like functions. In clinical test, GAMMA ORYZANOL was proved to be effective for climacteric sufferings, dermatitis and liver function disorder in old ages.

At first GAMMA ORYZANOL was found as cycloartenyl ferulate. But it is a term generally assigned to compounds of chemical structures wherein ferulic acid is connected to a steroid skeleton (sterol) through as ester linkage. This naturally occurring material is being increasingly focused as an ingredient for drugs, foods, and feeds, as well as cosmetics, for use either as a UV absorbent or an antioxidant, being recommended on the basis of its high level of safetiness (Oral LD50 for mice > 10,000 mg/kg). This tendency is further accelerated by the present worldwide back-to-nature trends.
