Dry skin can be caused by many factors such as excessive exposure to the sun, low humidity, wind or use of soap and detergent.  Although the use of ointment or skin creams containing moisturizers or emollients can alleviate some dry skin problems, a more effective way is to utilize an active ingredient that will improve the skin function.  It has been medically demonstrated that by enhancing cutaneous function through the use of formulations containing an intermediate of aminovinyl compounds such as LUMINEX, a dry or roughened skin can become smooth in a short period of time.Among many aminovinyl compounds and their intermediates which have found wide applications and acceptance in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, LUMINEX has been particularly useful in treating dry and chapped skin.
Basically, LUMINEX is an aminovinyl compound@with the chemical structure shown below.  LUMINEX has an excellent safety record.
One of the most unique properties of LUMINEX is that it is quite effective even at an extremely low concentrations.

As a matter of fact, a mere 0.002% is the normally suggested dosage for various treatment cosmetic products such as hand lotion, skin cream, body lotion, moisturizer, under make-up cream and night cream, etc.  A higher concentration can be used without any worry of toxicity or skin irritation.
A large amount of literature is available on LUMINEX and with its proven effectiveness and safety.  LUMINEX is widely used in Japan and has been incorporated into a great number of fine cosmetics sold worldwide.
The solubilities of LUMINEX in propylene glycol and ethanol are 1% and 0.5% respectively.  The solubilities increase significantly with increase in temperature.  For cosmetic formulation, it is convenient to use LUMINEX in 1% solution of propylene glycol.
